History
More than 30 years ago, BTSA began its activities in a small factory on the outskirts of Madrid. Today we are one of the leading companies of Natural Antioxidants and Natural Vitamin E worldwide.
1994
In February, the company BTSA Biotecnologías Aplicadas S.L. was officially established, beginning the production of antioxidants based on natural tocopherols that same year.
1995
Production begins at the Humanes facilities in Madrid and our main product, Tocobiol®, is launched on the market. This is a powerful natural antioxidant initially aimed at the food industry, but which later began to be marketed in the cosmetics industry.
1998
Tocopherol concentrates are incorporated into our product range, offering customers a new alternative of natural antioxidants.
2000
Natural Vitamin E is incorporated as a new line of products to enrich food and cosmetic formulations, thus adding an active ingredient to the company’s offering.
2002
Due to the constant growth and development of the company, work began on a new production plant in Fuenlabrada (Madrid), considerably improving technical conditions and increasing production capacity.
2003
Operations at the new factory in Fuenlabrada begin in July.
2004
Omega 3 is added to the company’s product offering and Ecoflax, a 100% plant-based Omega 3 rich in linolenic acid (ALA), is launched on the market.
2005
Biomega-Tech is developed, an Omega 3 obtained from different varieties of fish and with different concentrations of EPA and DHA, achieving satisfaction of the growing market demand for this type of product.
2008
The Nutrabiol and Bioxan brands are created for the food and cosmetics industries respectively. Concentrated tocopherols and natural vitamin E begin to be marketed under these brands.
2010
Due to the company’s sustained growth and the increase in production lines, work began on the construction of a new factory in Tecnoalcalá (Alcalá de Henares, Madrid), with greater production capacity in addition to laboratory services.
2011
In January, production moved to the new facilities in Tecnoalcalá, and in the summer of that same year, the commercial and administrative offices moved to the new facilities.
2013
ISO FSSC 22000 Certification is obtained, which guarantees food safety throughout the entire production chain and is accepted internationally.
2018
BTSA opens a new sales office in Chicago, Illinois (United States), to serve the growing demand of the North American market.
